Complex aroma consists of both fruity and earthy elements. The flavor is equally fascinating with impressions of plum and black cherry, interwoven with earthy and spicy notes with hints of mocha, cinnamon and anise. The tannins are bold, but not astringent. The completely dry with lively acidity ACRE Merlot pairs well with a sizzling lamb chop, grilled steak, or roasted poultry.
Acre Merlot was grown organically on the gently sloping bench of the south-west portion of Oakville, where the warm to hot days promote full ripening but the cool maritime influenced nights preserve acidity. The loose clay let water to penetrate deeply providing the crucial nutrients for flavor development. The grapes were harvested on October 6th, 2012 and aged on 100% French oak. The wine was then bottles on February 14th, 2014.
