The perfumed nose of ripe, fresh strawberry, black raspberry, with hints of tobacco and dry herbs; lead to the classic and always enticing palate of mature plum, black cherry and dark chocolate lengthened by the integrated background of cedar, nutmeg and vanilla.
Nestled on a gently sloping knoll on the north edge of Yountville, Ghost Block vineyard is named in honor of the historic Pioneer Cementery for which it borders. The vineyard is 16 acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. 2011 was a late, challenging and wet vintage. Many qualitative decisions were made throughout harvest and fermentation resulting in excellent wine quality. Whole berry fermented, aged 24 months on 70% new French oak barrels.
