Medium to dark purple in color, the 2011 Trifecta Cabernet Sauvignon’s nose opens with a stony, bright, floral, forest-like aroma. In the mouth an enchanting mix of freshly plucked wild berries, cherry, vanilla, and baking spices. Wet slate and deep earth are shadowed by toasty oak, which ads an intriguing nuance of creamy notes to the abundant cocktail of flavors. Scents of cedar and cocoa powder also emerge. The texture is supple, round, soft, with fine-grained tannins; simply gorgeous, luxurious and silky. The juicy acidity keeps the fruit lively across the palate and through a long, floral, deep finish.
The winter and most of the spring were wet, which delayed fruit set, thus reducing yields tremendously. However, the fruit that was left, was structurally perfect, rich, dense and gave us what is needed to make incredible wine. Aged 30 months in French oak barrels.
